Transparent ranking and recognition methodology
ResearchRank is an independent analytics platform. OpenAlex supplies scholarly metadata; ResearchRank defines its own ranking displays, analytics score and recognition rules.
Ranking basis
Overall researcher, institution and publisher lists: candidate entities are requested from OpenAlex ordered by cited-by count. Subject lists: OpenAlex Works matching the selected Domain, Field, Subfield or Topic are grouped by entity and ordered by matched output count.
Percentile recognition
Recognition percentage = ranking position ÷ evaluated population × 100. The evaluated population comes from OpenAlex response metadata where available. Top 1%, 2%, 5% and 10% labels are ResearchRank recognition classes, not OpenAlex awards.
Composite analytics score
The composite score is normalized within the current candidate set and is displayed as an analytical indicator. It does not replace the explicitly stated ranking basis used for percentile recognition.
Limitations
Open bibliographic data can contain disambiguation, affiliation and coverage errors. Profiles should be reviewed before using a certificate for formal evaluation. For authoritative large-scale global subject rankings, a full snapshot-based precomputed ranking database is recommended.
